A Bay Plan, also known as a stowage plan, is the method of mapping the storage space in a ship so that containers of different types and sizes can be efficiently accommodated into this space. It gives a cross-sectional view of the arrangement of containers above and below the deck and helps maximize the economy of handling and shipping containers safely. Modern bay plans are mapped out by computer programs using mathematical calculations.
